Besides, you're prolly around as an easily dominated female figure. Regardless of whose arm you happen to cling to, you're Xzerrion's unstated and understood, first, last, and always. The fact that you are with Knytt only shows as a mark of favor toward Knytt. "Triel" will disdainfully ignore you, understand the reasons why you are kept, and be silently amused by them. Also, you are basically tolerated because Xzerrion is useful to her, and if nothing else, you would make a handy sacrifice if one became necessary. Granted, this is how I understand it to the best of my limited knowledge of drow psychology. Caprice is prolly the more favored and permanent ornament because she is useful as well as dominate-able. You're just a pretty that has struck milord's fancy, and will last only as long as his fancy towards you does. Thus, you'll cultivate whatever other reasons to stick around, ie stay alive, that you can. You'd be wary and nervous around me because I'm more the real power in drow society. High Priestess= 1 step below Matron Mother= very tough customer. you're fortunate enough that "Triel" is strong enough and secure enough in her power that there's no need to torture or torment others. Any arrogance and cruelty shown are simply that which would be demonstrated by any drow, especially one of the ruling class. Being afraid of me and making yourself as unnoticable as possible might be a better strategy. You never know what i might decide about you in Xzerrion's absence. High Priestess's like using those snake-headed whips on folks. Plus, if "Triel" thinks that Xzerrion's having you and flaunting you as a biddable female in her face is an unbearable insult, you'd get killed, quick or slow at her whim. And there'd be nothing Xzerrion could do, because drow females rule over the males, absolutely. The only difference is when a male of an extremely high house comes in contact with a female of an extremely low house. Me, I'm of the first house in my city, Xzerrion's of the third in his. Frankly, I think they'd be pretty much ignored, unless somebody tried to mess with you. The House Mage is about Third in line in this heirarchy. Remember, clerics are very highly placed, because they enforce the worship and submission to LLolth. Basically, it would go Triel, Xzerrion, House Mage, etc. Nobles can be above magic users, and female clerics outweigh everyone except Matron Mothers and the Demon Goddess herself. Well, as least full High Priestesses, and that's what I'm playing. Xzerrion just corrected me that House Mages could outrank a female cleric that was not yet a full High Priestess. And for Ariel's sake, don't ask me what it takes to become a full High Priestess. If you really want to know, ask Xzerrion. I know he could tell you in complete and gruesome detail. Trust me, you have to be a steel-shod, cast-iron bitch to survive the process. Mercy, pity, kindness, love, these things are a best a very feeble spark in High Priestesses. More likely if they show anything that even looks like one of the finer qualities, it's because they've got some kind of long range plan or torture in mind. Eep, preachin' again. Skimmers now circle the area in front of the tavern, and much shouting can be heard even at this distance. A few screams come, but are quickly silenced. The people seem to be working as hard as the group to stay to the shadows and not be seen. Some look out from under hoods, half their faces now metal, with one glowing eye to replace the lost one. Others show signs of cybernetic limbs. A begger grabs onto the leg of Log's breeches with a hand that looks like that of a skeleton, only made of metal. Log drops a couple silver coins and hurries off wordlessly as the begger scoops up the money and stashes it in a compartment in his arm. [All of these people were once normal. Some went to sleep at dawn, only to awake three nights later like this. Others were taken away by the secret police and watched as the operations were done to them. But they're the lucky ones. Most of those taken by the secret police are never heard from again.] He sends solemnly. The last rays of sunlight slipped over the horizon less than an hour ago, but the change of scenery is remarkable. People are everywhere now. Some just sit aroudn an beg, while others deal their merchandice on street corners. Most buildings are lit by oil lanterns or candles, though a few seem to have electricity, and are brightly lit with neon signs advertising their goods. Most people take a look at the drow and run off, not wanting to tempt their fates. The officer was hurrying to the Iron One's antechamber when he almost collided with the black Golem in the hall. "Sir, I was jsut coming to report to you. I have emmisaries from the household Drisonel asked us to watch for. They await her word in room 315. I promised them they would not have to wait long, and I was not mistaken." The Controller looks down on him with brightly glowing eyes. "No, you have done well. return to your duties. I will go see to their needs personally. Drisonel will be pleased with you." The officer looks like he's about to protest, but then holds his tounge at the last minute. "As Drisonel wishes." The Controller makes his way down the hallways towards the room where Caprice adn Xzerrion were left. Long before he reaches the door, Xzerrion senses his apporach. A feeling of a conciousness, but not a life. Instead of a lie, there is only the cold feeling of metal, and hate. =========================== Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 17:02:48 -0700 (PDT) From: fuzzy Subject: Re: Aae-Uh Oh X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/851 On Tue, 29 Apr 1997 gamer@host.yab.com wrote: > On Mon, 28 Apr 1997, fuzzy wrote: >> \I think these bozos will be very careful not to rile a mage that >> can cook a lanish with a single spell blast... "Ah, Roland," Gaunbt says, smiling as he slowly draws the Shadow Brand. "I wasn't going to involve myself in this, especially after our _last_ encounter. I owe that mechanical bastard the Controller, and I had decided that letting you run roughshod over his plans woiuld be vengeance enough." "What changed your mind?" Roland snarled. "I did," Destroyer boomed, and stepped forward. "I shall crush that fool 'the Controller' with one swipe of my gauntlet. But you...you are valued by many who think they represent order. Both by those who consider themselves 'good,' and those believed to be 'evil.'" "And of course _you_ are the real order, yadda yadda yadda, get on with it outcast," Sil replies. "As you wish," Destroyer says quietly, and the Silver Phoenix armor is instantly magnetized. "PHOENIX! Roland cries as Sil falls over, paralyzed. "Gaunt." Gaunt twirls the Brand effortlessly as he approaches Roland, who responds by screaming wordlessly and ramming into him at full hyperspeed. Gaunt is temporarily a small pile of organic chemicals while his Halo repairs the damage... Destroyer smiles. "Impressive." (Suddenly, someone projects into Roland's head the Star Wars Emperor smiling, saying, 'Give in to your hate, young Jedi.') Roland's eyes crackle with power as Gaunt begins to re-form. "Let her go." "Ah, but your companion is so...interesting." /Come on, Roland, THINK! You're not going to beat Dr. Destroyer with raw power... /Wait a minute.../ Roland smiles. "You want to see my power? Take a good long look." Roland's hands are suddenly clamped on Destroyer's helmet. Energy crackles around them. "What...what are you doing?!" "When an immortal willingly gives the Halo to a mortal, that mortal gains all the immortal's powers. But someone like you, who is already an embodiment of the Power..." Destroyer snarls at Roland. "Two like poles thrust into proximity. You scheming little-" Roland smiles again. "I learned from the master." Destroyer suddenly smiles back. "I wonder...are _all_ your companions as interesting as this one?" "NO!" Suddenly, Roland and Phoenix are with the party again. This time, however, they've brought company... Roland and Sil are thrown back, Silver landing rather hard in Roland's stomach. "Whoulf-you okay, partner?" Roland asks, concentrating on demagnetizing the armor. "I've had better days. Thanks, hero," Sil replies, giving Roland a relieved hug as her arms and legs come free. (OOC: Okay, okay, I wanted to get _one_ damsel-in-distress scene in. My eyes see with the truth of a camera, invisibility will not hide you from..." Noting the lack of combatic responses from the forms, The Controller moves into the room and reaches out for one of them. At his touch, the magic pops like a bubble. A dozen tiny cameras no larger than a finger come flying out via tiny rockets. They all fly out the door and begin to fan out down the hallways. The Controller pauses as he is abotu to knock on Matron Drisonel's door to inform her of the arrival of the Army of Light and her enemy Xzerrion. "Damn, they have escaped already, or so they think. John, who has received absolutely none of this mental banter, stares at his compatriots as if they were mad. After watching for a very little while, he goes over to a nearby open air *ahem* restaurant, to widely distort the meaning of the term. The people having wisely taken cover inside, John begins to bang on the door. When no answer ensues, he snarls in rage, blows the door to toothpicks, walks in and emerges shortly followed by one extremely frightened servitor. Seating himself, he proceeds to order drinks and a large platter of rather tender looking meat. The servitor walks back out and calms, *somewhat*, when she notices that any bolts and blasts about to hit the restaurant vanish in a blue dazzle as they hit a ward. John picks at the meat, feeding himself without showing any features or skin. However, he is balked when he goes to drink, finding the robes annoyingly in the way. He stares at the offending beverage, then pulls back his hood, revealing leonine features covered with a light golden fur. His hands are also covered in fur, and the nails seem more pointed and slightly longer as well. He takes a long pull at his drink, then sits back to watch his friends play. BTW, Eyes are the same color as before, but are now slitted and glow in the dark the way a lot of animals do. =========================== Date: Thu, 1 May 1997 22:46:15 -0700 (PDT) From: fuzzy Subject: Prep'ed and Ready X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/882 On Thu, 1 May 1997, fuzzy wrote: > On Thu, 1 May 1997, Roland X wrote: >>>At 01:01 PM 5/1/97 -0700, fuzzy wrote: >>>>>How about some relic, maybe an amulet or some such, of some >>>increadibly minor diety, with little or no value to anyone not a >>>devotee of said deity, and maybe not even to them?> >> >> (OOC: LOL!) > > (OOC: Actually I asked what it should look like... We need 'Triel' and fuzzy to verbally 'vouch' for the item, ie fuzzy announcing his discovery to Triel, who will announce that we must keep it away from our 'enemies' Sil and Roland. The tome told of the, legendary even then, loss of the Eye of Darkness, the talisman that originally summoned the Dark Fyre to the Forgotten Realms Alterverse and made it controlable. According to the tome the wielder of the Eye controls the full force of the Dark Fyre. After the loss of the Eye the Dark Fyre went rogue and eventually the war between the Mage/Priests of the Dark Fyre and the Priestesses of Lolth caused The Sundering. Recently The House Mage spoke with a spirit that claimed the Eye had been thrown thru a gate into this Realm, The House Mage is estimating that to have happend about 500,000 years ago. The House Mage's covert Belief is that Wielding the Eye of Darkness will give him enough Power to be able to Challenge Lolth Herself. The High Priestess Triel would Suspect the House Mage's Motives. \ \This Fiction Brought to you by twisted the mind of Fuzzy, With thank to the Maztica Trilogy of the Forgotten Realms Alterverse.\ \Which way works better? The only way to defeat the spell's masking > effect is to send *mental grin* nanomillithaums of energy into it.> John's Spell Links with others waiting for it, Providing the Charge Accumulator functions, Given the set of spells now on this artifact, It is no longer modifiable, as the attempt will just pump the Charge, and hitting it with enough energy to destroy it will just trigger it. \OooHhh Shiiit, Now what...\ ... \Each attempt to activate, blast, or Scan the artifact will cause the stone to glow Black starting at the outer edge and working inward as an indicator of how close to activation charge it is, When the whole stone glows it will activate.\ \Well, When they channel enough power into it, It Will Activate, There is about 1 oz of metalic Hydrogen in the heart of this thing, and when there is enough stored energy it goes !BOOOOM! 'about 10 kt yield'. and even scanning it just pumps the charge without revealing structure\ \This is Not what I Intended. But at least it will take a lot of energy to set it off. Say a life sacrifice or equivalent energy over a period of time.\ \Evidently my darkside really hates Lanish, That thing will actively drain to a husk any Lanish that touches it. should take a few dozen Lanish minimum to reach activation level.\ With Major Effort, dropping everything except shields and the illusion.
