Roland smiles. *Sweet bit of hyperport, Caprice.* He and Morgan continue to monitor the advance team through Roland's ESP and the psi-link, prepared to become the cavalry. Sil, in a truly surreal scene, is cleaning the chain-gun that protrudes from her back when extended. > As the group teleports into the dungeons, their body heat activates >the guardians the Controller had placed there. Sil sighs and the chaingun retracts. Morgan offers Roland her hand. Roland takes it, concentrates, and the cavalry appears in the dungeon. Roland takes one look at the cyborgs and slaps his 'Cosmic Boy' symbol. Soon, several Drow are magnetized to one another. "Heh," Roland says, looking at the trenchcoat-over-Legion-uniform outfit he wears. "Just like old times." He looks at Morgan and smiles. "Well, mostly." >On 7 Sep 1997 13:03:27 -0700 (MST) In Message # 00001303 > gamer@host.yab.com said: > > Xzerrion gets the cells open, the little girl sits in the middle of >her cell crying with fright. Meanwhile, the Cosmic Roland has a full platoon of Drow well in hand. He contemplates working on his modern sculpture skills. Suddenly, a cloud of dark ribbons appears, apparently flowing around a human figure. "Having fun, little psion?" Roland is so startled that the magnetized Drow fall to the ground. "What the-?" His question is cut off as the Shadow Brand protrudes from the shroud of darkness and a bolt of mystic energy lances out at the Freelance Immortal. Roland is pushed back a few steps, then snarls and his hand presses the golden phoenix on his belt. The 'superhero' version of Blaze forms, and the familiar blue-and-gold caped warrior appears, sword in hand. "Thorne, I presume. Cute sword." Morgan senses the change in her beloved's aspect, but stays in the cell for the moment, monitoring the situation. "It came to me, Phoenix-whelp. We are united in hate. We will devour you, and destroy your precious world of order!" Thorne's eyes glow with blood-red hate through the ribbon- shroud. "You are nothing to me now!" Another bolt flies from the Shadow Brand. Roland holds up his hand, and a forcefield deflects the attack. Thorne howls in fury, his revenge denied. "Don't bet on it." The psion and the necromancer glare at each other for a moment, each taking the measure of the other. <*Would ye like some assistance, beloved?*> Morgan sends. Roland smiles wickedly. "Thorne? There's someone I want you to meet..." Morgan steps into the corridor, standing just behind and slightly to one side of Roland, her hand resting lightly on her 'belt dagger.' "Doctor Adrian Thorne, Lady Morgan Greywolf. My love, the slightly annoying minor necromancer, Adrian Throne," Roland chuckles. "No," Thorne whines, almost pouting as he backs away in fear. It is obvious to all that he can sense considerable magic around Morgan. "It's not fair! I can beat you now!" First, she may avoid Diblis entirely, instead striking at Darath the Black and the Golem in Misern, as well as getting the chance to confront her old enemy Xzerrion there. If she does that, and is successful, you can expect her to take a couple weeks to consolidate her power, then move on Diblis with a large-scale army of Drow and undead. No, far better to merely find a way to neutralize or destroy it. At the least I must be able to defend myself. And the first step toward that is, always, knowledge.' Having decided on a course of action, Jadis removed himself to the dimension he used for his more dangerous summonings. He calmed himself and checked that his reserves were full, for this was an unpredictable spell, the results of which varied but always fulfilled the intention of the caster. Whether it be a vision, a tome, or some powerful and malignant demon that would not enjoy being summoned, he would find receive something. As he cast the spell, he concentrated on one thing, Information on the StarDragon, and waited for a response. >> Jadis' vision blurs and then clears. He can feel a great "mass" of matter or energy or something nearby, his other dimensional senses feel NO other dimensional worlds. He "feels" the approach of two "beings". He can feel the infinite power of one of them. Then the two speak. First the one of infinite power "Let there be light". In that instant he "sees" the birth of The Stardragon. The other being speaks "Let there be darkness", and a moment later and the great mass begins to break up becomming uncounted dimensional worlds. Now he can "feel" dimensions around him. In the center of the expanding universes is one where The Stardragon stayed. Jadis can "feel" that this universe has the greatest share of the matter and energy and whatever of the great mass and that The Stardragon is fully half of the total. Time then flows Jadis sees The Stardragon moving about in it's "home" universe. It moves randomly, much like a baby might explore a room. Then he sees it feed. It consumes a double star system, planets and all, leaving nothing behind. Again time flows, Jadis sees The Stardragon about to eat another star system, but it hesitates and then approaches the fourth planet of the system. It finds life there and other sentient beings. Again the time flow, The Stardragon passes from one dimensional world to another and soon it is flitting about in the universes as it did in its "home". Then Jadis "feels" the approach of the second speaker. He sees it and The Stardragon fight it takes the form of a giant batwinged snake of pure darkness. The Stardragon is victorious and Jadis "feels" the other retreat, severely wounded. The vision blurs Jadis sees the city of Avalon on the world of Arcadia, with The Stardragon high above in dragon form. Jadis sees the shadow spider manipulate the Controlers equipment and fire the Mundanity beam at The Stardragon. The Stardragon is seemingly unharmed by the beam but a rift in the universes is opened and The Stardragon passes through it. To a universe where the physical laws are such that the Monoblock CAN'T explode. Jadis sees The Stardragon begin feeding on the Monoblock, but it is clear that it (The Stardragon) is half asleep. The Stardragon continues to feed on the Monoblock until the mass remaining is too small to keep the mass together and it explodes. Jadis would guage that The Stardragon must have feed on the mass of 2/3 of a universe. The Stardragon then leaves that universe stopping in Arcadia momentarily and in Calahan's for a second. It then appears above Dibis on Quaren. Jadis' vision blurs again and when it clears the "vision" is over, but he is not alone. He senses a part of the presence of the second speaker. The Adversary speaks, "Now you know what is commonly known about that pest. YOU are no match for it. It cannot be defeated in physical battle. It is master to matter and energy, time and space. BUT it can be tricked and though it has lived thousands of billions of years it is and will always be a child. If you can get it to join US your reward will be beyond even your paltry dreams. Power? You'll have it. Over thousands of universes. Revenge? What can't be destroyed with it's power. Wealth? Who needs wealth when one has that kind of power at one's disposal. Think about it." With that the Adversary vanishes. =========================== Date: Tue, 9 Sep 1997 00:36:27 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: The Fate of Darath the Black On 9 Sep 1997 03:21:12 -0400 (EDT) In Message # 00001355 Dane0R0A@aol.com said: In a message dated 97-09-08 23:22:32 EDT, Fuzzy wrote (I think): << The air aroudn Fuzzy begins to blacken as... something... tries to wriggle its way into fuzzy's mind. into the deep dark crevices wehre the darkest of fears are kept. The 'carpet' under foot is thick and green, and exudes a faint, pleasent scent when walked on... it also shifts to better support the weight of whoever is standing on it. The canopy bed on one side of the room would look at home in a medieval keep, while the display case on the wall next to it holds various power weapons neatly racked. The walls are green-black, smooth with a faint sheen. The corners of the room are filled with odd pillars, their ribbed shape reminiscent of some of the designs of H.R. Gieger. However odd it might appear to others, to Mischief this is home. When Legion sets her down, she dives under the bed, emerging with a clear plastic ball with a jinglebell inside. The ball hovers where left until Mischief bats at it, then it goes bouncing around the room, acting as if it was in free fall. Mischief runs, flies, and pounces after it merrily. Legion sighs, and begins to disarm. Her tiny mechanical spiders going back into a crystal case, weapons teleported into their places elsewhere in the keep, a coil of rope floating over to hang on the wall. She hangs her robes in a closet that has the same Gieger-esque appearance as the pillars. Legion stretches, and keeps stretching, body shifting, reforming, darkening... Soon a feline looking much like a huge black panther is there. The main differences are the fore-paws, which are more like a raccoon's hands, and the wings... While Mischief's are flexable, cute, and easily hidden, these have hardened ribbings, tattered edges, and are too large to hide even when folded against her back. *MOMMY!* Mischief pounces at Legion, instantly twice as hyper as anyone in the CAoL has ever seen her. Legion rumbles, wrestling and playing with Mischief, the two chasing each other through the halls of the keep until finally Mischief collapses, worn out. [OOC: If the spider doesn't follow, no one sees this. Her 'home' is a seperate universe, and a rather small one at that. It is more like a psionic equivelent to the Illusionist alter reality spell, Instead of requireing a phantasm to make real it must be atuned to some mind's Dreams or Nightmares, and all it does is open a gate to the world most like those Dreams or Nightmares, it does not force anything or anyone to pass through in either direction. And to do it at all Fuzzy has to have absorbed enough energy, from the natural build-up found in the area where Dreams or Nightmares are experienced, that is what he was doing over Zag just before it was blown to bits. It is a varient of the Ficton gate ability that fuzzy uses most of the time to travel between universes. =========================== Date: Tue, 9 Sep 1997 17:07:13 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: The Fate of Darath the Black On 9 Sep 1997 16:37:30 -0700 (PDT) In Message # 00001367 fuzzy said: On Tue, 9 Sep 1997 gamer@host.yab.com wrote: > OOC: Depends on just how confusing you WANT this battle to get. > Darath only has two REAL fears. It had been 15 years but he was sure his secret chamber was still there. The city itself looked nothing like it had 15 years ago. Repairs and improvements had continued adn now it was looking very out fo place in this medival world. But the place he sought was outside the city walls. Opening up the chamber he found it was just as he had left it. The equipment had long been shut off and forgotten and probably would not fuction again, but the armory was well sealed. The hovercyclone entered into the world as multicolored lightning began striking the earth all around them. Trees were incinerated on touch, too fast for them even to burn. The ground was breaking up rapidly and it was a thankful thing that the Cyclone was hover-outfitted rather than groundbound. "I either have a lock on The COntroller or a uranium mine Michael." As the Hovercycloen closed the gap in seconds, The Controller finished the last of his outfitting and stepped out of the hidden bunker. He now bore extra armor, a jet pack, and micromissile launchers on either shoulder. One arm sported an energy shield. And they eyes bore pure hate. "I don;t know who you are, but you messed with me on the WRONG day!" The Controlelr shouted as he launched a swarm of 30 micromissiles. =========================== Date: Tue, 9 Sep 1997 17:21:47 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: The Fate of Darath the Black On 9 Sep 1997 17:39:09 -0700 (MST) In Message # 00001370 gamer@host.yab.com said: On Tue, 9 Sep 1997, fuzzy wrote: > Each contact between Soulstealer and Fuzzy's weapons creates a small > temporary flaw in Soulstealer's Enchantment, however The > Spellbreaking feature of Fuzzy's Equipment is not powerfull enough > to actually break the enchantment. > > Darath the Black is the better Swordsman and will eventually win, > A Pyrrhic Victory. ;-)) OOC: WHAT???? all this work to get him to come down and fight and you don't have a trick up your sleave to win??????????? hehehehe =========================== Date: Tue, 9 Sep 1997 18:21:44 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: The Fate of Darath the Black Organization: Callahanian Army of Light List Server On 9 Sep 1997 17:42:15 -0700 (PDT) In Message # 00001371 fuzzy said: On Tue, 9 Sep 1997 gamer@host.yab.com wrote: > OOC: WHAT???? all this work to get him to come down and fight and > you don't have a trick up your sleave to win??????????? hehehehe During the Second Exchange of blows Darath the Black can see that he has a clear edge in skill, though Fuzzy's weapons ability to change shape almost counters it. Crow calms, and her goddess whispers one last blessing, before once more departing. -Kelley, aka Crow. (Gee, guess i better write about what *did* happen to Crow while she was away. Trust me, this'll make a bit more sense then. ;) ) =========================== Date: Tue, 9 Sep 1997 22:51:42 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: The Fate of Darath the Black On 9 Sep 1997 22:46:39 -0700 (PDT) In Message # 00001394 fuzzy said: > On 9 Sep 1997 21:29:46 -0700 (PDT) In Message # 00001388 > fuzzy said: > \#I am A Cat > I Walk where I will > And All Places are Alike to Me#\ > As the Blast clears The Sands are Clear, The only Evidence of the > Event The Naked CatChangeling Standing where the Battle was fought > And the Scorch Marks on The Walls of Misern. "Ok, I just need two things. One, whatever is making the X-Windows needs to short out for however long this dimention has left. Two, make sure he can here me through the headset radio. "Next, Nemisis, alter a missile for nonlethal force. Alter enough of the explosives to match this {chemical forula}. Leave enough explosives to coat him extra throroughly. "Done." 'Kitt' replies. /#Done.#/ the Nemisis split replies. /#Nyah nyah, I beat you!#/ This, obviously, from Chaos. "Fire." Knytt says. The missile streaks away, but it curves too much. There wasn't enough compensation for the increasing wind. The wind pushes the missle's trajectory back towards Knytt. *Knytt! Concentrate on the Missile! Push it away!* As Knytt scrunched his eyes closed, the missile's nose was hit by a flying rock, missing Knytt by inches. The wind continued the curve, passing inches from the Controller. A small tree hit the back of the Missile causing it to fishtail around. It flew well away from the Controller only to have the wind arc it back to explode against the Controller's jetpack. A Pink substance, the consistancy of shaving cream buried the Controller up to his mouth. The Substance, exposed to air, became extremely sticky and began to harden. The Controller was frozen as he tried to get out of the mound of goo. Then Knytt spoke to the Controller, raising the visor on his helmet. "You strapped me to a table and shot a laser through my brain. I told you you would never get away with it. Now you are strapped to a world which is about to end. And, worst of all, what will destroy you is the very thing you tried to control. "You wanted to feel the power of Chaos energy? Well, now's your chance! Feel the power as it is pulled from your body! Watch as it rips this dimention asunder! And you right along with it!" A gateway opened behind Knytt. "To misquote a friend of mine: 'Goodbye, Controller. It hasn't been pleasant.'" As the PowerArmored Knytt and Pyewackett step through, they catch the last three lines. "Amen, brother." they say in unison, then stare at each other for a moment, slightly surprised. The HoverCyclone converts to a trike as the Power Armor vanishes. Knytt gets off, opens the cargo compartment under Pyewackett's seat, is shocked to find his ALICE pack there, and gets out of the coverall-style base armor to reveal a set of Starfleet sweats beneath. He slips on a pair of sneakers and his duster, tosses the base armor in the trunk, and remounts the Hovervehicle. "Chaos, thank you for your help. Now, GET OUTTA MY BIKE!" Chaos appears, taking on the form of Knytt as EA Captain on Oa. "I leave only because it suits me. You looked good with no hair, Knytt." Chaos added, holding up a hand mirror. "Or, should I call you Gary, baldy?" Shifting into a form with Patrick Stewart's head, Marina Sirtis' torso, giant Preying Mantis arms and hands, and a kangaroo's legs. All of which he somehow crammed into a lowcut Troi uniform. He waves a pinsor in Picard fashion and says "Enga-hey-HEY!" staring at his chest. "This opens up a whole new *realm* of possibilities!" then vanishes. And THEN... >On 9 Sep 1997 22:46:39 -0700 (PDT) In Message # 00001394 > fuzzy said: >Fuzzy sends >\#Nemisis, When you have a moment, I could use the spair pack of >Clothes I left with you#\ > >Nemisis Replies >\#Yes Lord Fuzzy, It may take a few minutes I am just finishing up >here#\ The HoverTrike appears over a sand dune and comes to a halt next to Fuzzy. "You present the Appearance of a man who needs a ride...And some clothes. Roland looks up from the Phoenix Claw, his eyes glowing with familiar energy. He transforms the Claw back into its sword form and it disappears into the folds of his cape, a set of blueprints left behind on the table for Knytt and Fuzzy should they require them. "I," Roland snarls, "am in the perfect mood for this. "Royally pissed." An astral projection forms before the assembled forces of the Drow. *Matron Drisonel. Now.* *If you do _not_ leave now, you will learn why Titania called me an Immortal of the Iron Worlds!* Blaze's astral form towers over the assembled army for a moment, then vanishes back into his body. A 15 lb Nemisis Split Flows out of the HoverTrike... \#That would not be proper, You will be needing that base Armor in the Future. I must offer apologies, The Controller would not have had any chance of infuencing your Vehicle, If I had not been present. The HoverCyclone is a distinct Nanalloy Device, Not a part of myself It is hardcoded to take instructions from you alone Remote control is possible but only relayed Via your nueral link to the Gateway Bands from this point on. Lord Fuzzy, I will assemble Clothing for you from the sylicates available at this location.#\ The Split flows into the sand then up Fuzzy's body, When it is done assmbling a new set of clothes on Fuzzy it settles into a Belt configuration. \#Lord Fuzzy, The hilt of your Sword will be impossible to duplicate at this Time, But I will have a Functional replacement ready for you When we activate the Data Gathering for the Insurance policy#\ ===========================
