His thinks, 'Does the boy not even have the power or skill to tell a poor copy of myself for the real thing?' OOC: Jadis and John are one and only's. They have reflections in other probabilities, but those reflections don't have the Zodaii inside them. Making them less powerful than the real McCoy. Jadis finally points at the viewing screen, "I can tell you right now that the probability you were looking at will not come to pass. Look at them. In your description of the players you left out some things. Nemo, Hydra, Zia, Fuzzy. Those first two alone would make up more than half the strength of the group. The others are not to be trifled with either. Morgan never even arrived here." He seems angered, for some reason. "If you were counting merely numbers, then it seems you have not learned the correct lessons yet. Even in terms of power, while the subtraction of those you named would be a heinous blow, it would not be crippling for this group. It would only serve to strengthen their hatred of me. Had they killed this body or destroyed this dimension I would have had the power to preserve myself for a while against their retribution, but not indefinitely. Such a course as you wish to see would be a fool's choice. I could kill Roland now, if I so choose. I could kill most of them now, for that matter. But to do so would be to sign my own death warrant. I'm sure you haven't forgotten the Stardragon. That being and I may tangle eventually, but it will be on ground of _my_ choosing. I do not plan to lose." Realizing that perhaps he might have said too much, Jadis falls silent a moment. When next he speaks the heat has left his voice, "Forgive me. I have been rude. There are still many outcomes that may yet result, the one you desire is not among them. To steer those that remain to where I wish to go, I walk the razor's edge." Jadis glances up at the viewscreen, "I must handle a small matter. Personally, this time. Please, stay. Watch. Learn from what they do, how they react. I hope to discuss some things with you when I return." Jadis walks through one of the walls, a doorway forming and deforming as he passes through. =========================== Date: Wed, 1 Jul 1998 17:32:46 -0700 (PDT) Subject: AAE IV: Everybody off the Bus! Once the bus has moved beyond the range of the town, (It doesn't take long), Jadis steps out of a doorway above the road directly in front of the bus. As the bus hits him he shreds it, reducing it to a few scraps of metal but harming the passengers not at all. (Everyone now has the lovely opportunity to stop themselves from smacking into the road at whatever speed the bus was going.) Jadis turns around, salutes the group with two fingers, and steps into another doorway, leaving. The group is in sight of the castle now, however, it being only a few miles away through some hills and ravines. =========================== Date: Wed, 1 Jul 1998 18:54:06 -0700 (PDT) Subject: AAE 4: part 1: Astral Wars On Wed, 01 Jul 1998 20:21:49 -0500 Doc Said As CAoL Message # 00004894 Once Molly and Tink drop back to physical Doc sets about creating a filter bubble, and drawing all the power out of an area about 10 feet across, any parts of the web or constructs that enter the bubble get derezed a la TRON What he does with the power is start creating astral constructs of his own. These are self contained, limited life ones (mainly until something destroys them, very hard thing to do), they look like replicas of various multi headed dragons, varying from 3 heads to 9 heads, and about 20 feet in size. They immediately proceed to attack Jadis' constructs, and the web spiders; each head acting independently. After releasing about a hundred of these Doc realizes that what he is drawing is less than one percent of what's available and that the rest has been tainted with Jadis' "mental toxic waste" and thus filtered out. A quick shift in some of the active scans shows that most of the constructs and the web are feeding off of this 'toxic waste'. As well as Jadis having sneaked a bubble of his own in around Doc's that is cutting off influx of what little clean energy there is, and creating a build up of the 'toxic waste' around Doc. =========================== Date: Wed, 1 Jul 1998 18:59:12 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Watching On Wed, 1 Jul 1998 19:04:09 -0700 (MST) Driscoll Said As CAoL Message # 00004895 > On Wed, 1 Jul 1998 19:53:24 -0400 (EDT) > Shadow Said As CAoL Message # 00004892 > > Realizing that perhaps he might have said too much, Jadis falls > silent a moment. (OOC: Squee had a few details screwed up and a couple others not mentioned but I'm saying too much for right now) Squee watches jadis go and grins as the doorway closes. "So, what do you think? Is he right or is that future you showed me to come to pass?" The young lady's bracelet disolves and reforms into a kumquat with 6 spider legs and the head of a human. "Well you know I showed it to you but even I don't know if I showed you the right one or not. personally I'm looking forward to finding out. It's not often someone absorbs enough power to undo something I've done and ment to be permanent. But cn't just hang around here, it would be rude. I really need to go say hello to Driss and Roscoe." With that Chaos explodes softly leaving a lemon scentes puff of smoke wafting around the room. =========================== Date: Wed, 1 Jul 1998 19:45:45 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE 4: part 1: Astral Wars On Wed, 1 Jul 1998 22:15:13 -0400 (EDT) Shadow Said As CAoL Message # 00004896 >On Wed, 01 Jul 1998 20:21:49 -0500 >Doc Said As CAoL Message # 00004894 > >After releasing about a hundred of these Doc realizes that what he is >drawing is less than one percent of what's available and that the >rest has been tainted with Jadis' "mental toxic waste" and thus >filtered out. The webbing begins to change also. It begins to move and wave. It looks sharper, and almost glows. When a dragon comes too near it reaches out and begins to wrap tendrils around it, trying to immobilize the construct. Some dragons can't fight free in time and disappear in a mass of tendrils which begin to plump. Those that break free show scarring or depleted mass/energy where they were grabbed. Constructs swarm on immobilized or injured dragons, and try to push or trick the others into reach of the webbing, which is starting to look more like kelp. =========================== Date: Wed, 1 Jul 1998 20:38:20 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Everybody off the Bus! However, the bus is demonstrably _not_there;_ if it had turned invisible, those scraps of metal wouldn't still be around. The 'seats' slowly float to the ground, then Roland glows slightly and the bus-shaped forcefield (aha!) fades away. "To quote Dr. Jones, 'We walk from here.' Nass. I liked that bus," Roland mutters. "YOU liked that bus?!" Sil blurts out. "I'M the one who put blood, sweat and tears into it! Grrr...wait until I get some semi-phenomenal nearly-cosmic power on him!" She gestures angrily, and the chunks of ex-bus flow into one of the storage cubes. On Wed, 01 Jul 1998 22:24:03 Morgan and/or Roland Said As CAoL Message # 00004899 (OOC: Well, since it looks like we're almost ready to wrap up in Jadisland, here's a little teaser for things to come.) Captain Ivanova sighed. Her 'tea-' a well-disguised cup of coffee, actually-was warm and just the way she liked it, the ships were doing as they were told, and everything had been quiet since Kosh's kidnapping. Which meant disaster _had_ to be lurking right above them. "Cmdr. Corwin, anything on scanners?" Corwin jumped, startled. "Um, no, Captain, I've been keeping a close eye on them-like you asked-and I haven't seen so much as a power spike on a Drazzi freighter." Ivanova sighed again and sipped her 'tea.' "I know, I know. It's just-have you ever had a gremlin on your shoulder?" Corwin blinked. Loudly. "Beg pardon?" "During the World Wars, Russian pilots swore that the enemy's planes were attacked by gremlins. But if they weren't 'fed,' they'd turn on their own." Ivanova looked out the viewport. "I feel like we've got unfed gremlins on board." Corwin blinked again, though he did it more quietly this time, and turned back to his console. "Captain Ivanova-!" "Oy," she said, and put her coffee down. "Please, God, let it be a _small_ disaster..." "-I'm getting a jumpgate on scanners, but there's nothing on the cameras-!" Corwin's eyes shot to the viewport, and as they watched... ...a ship-if a bar the size of B-5 herself, with two bars larger than most ships themselves, attached to the sides, can be called a ship-appeared out of hyperspace, without any visible jumpgate to herald its arrival. One word was insribed on the side of the outrigger facing the station: GALACTICA. Shortly thereafter, more ships began to appear, far smaller than the 'Galactica,' around Epsilon III. A great many more. [God, this is _not_ what I would classify as a 'small' disaster,] she thought wearily. "Captain Ivanova to unidentified vessel. Would you care to explain why you've just jumped into a heavily used jump point without notice?" {This is Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galactica. My apologies, Captain. We have but recently arrived in your galaxy, and are still-} "Excuse me, did you say _galaxy?_" Ivanova blurted. [Definitely NOT small disaster!] {That is correct,} Adama said, just the smallest hint of bemusement in his voice. {We are fleeing an ancient enemy, searching for a lost colony of our people, and have just arrived here.} "In that case, allow me to offer apologies of my own. You are in Alliance space, and this station is called Babylon 5." Ivanova noted the still-increasing number of ships appearing around the planet. "Ah, could you inform those ships with you that we get a lot of traffic around here? Collisions aren't common in open space, but it _is_ possible here." {Of course, Captain,} Adama said, and the connection deactivated. "Call the President," Ivanova said evenly. "Um, I think this is his sleep cycle, Captain," Corwin said. "I don't care if it's his night off, David! Get the President." "Ohhh..." Delenn blinked. Sinclair's commlink was beeping. "This is becoming a nightly occurrence, Jeffrey." "I'm sorry, Delenn," Jeff sighed, kissed Delenn on the forehead, and tapped his link. "Go." {Ah, sorry to disturb you, Mr. President, but Ivanova told me to call you now,} Corwin said. "That's all right, Commander. What's up?" {Well, there's a rather large fleet appearing out of hyperspace, including one ship as big as the station. They claim to be from another galaxy, Mr. President.} "What?!" Jeffrey stood bolt upright, the cobwebs of sleep blasted to oblivion. Delenn was out of bed a moment later. "I'll be right there." He deactivated the link. "Another galaxy!" Sinclair breathed, his hand falling to an antique copy of 'The Cat Who Walks Through Walls.' "It sounds like science fiction." "Five years ago, the Shadows would have sounded like 'science fiction.' Ten before that, we were 'science fiction' to one another," Delenn said, a smile in her eyes. Jeff chuckled. "You've got a point. Still, this is the first time I've been excited about this job since-well, since before the war. I wonder what they're like?" Delenn laughed, reached around his neck, and kissed him thoroughly. "It has been a long time since I have seen you like this. It is good, heart of my heart." Jeff shrugged. "Well, this is new even by _our_ standards, and I'm looking forward to seeing this. Come on, Delenn-let's go be diplomatic." He grinned. Delenn couldn't help but smile back; his contagious charm had been an important factor in the Shadow War and the Earth's civil conflict. But could it infect beings from another galaxy? "Mr. President," Ivanova said, and the entire C-in-C came to attention. "Please, Susan, it's still me, you know." Jeff gave her a casual salute all the same and walked up to the viewport. "So what have...we...got...my. She's big, isn't she?" Ivanova nodded. "We're trying to get visual communications now; they're jury-rigging their stuff, and we're doing the same. Apparently, our translators are talking, so it shouldn't be much longer." "What did they say?" Delenn asked. "The first words on such occasions can be very important, as we all learned long ago." Ivanova motioned at the _Galactica_ with her head. "Their leader is called 'Commander Adama.' They were polite, but they're on the run and looking for a lost colony of some sort. It looks like they're out of luck. Too bad; they seem decent enough." Corwin looked up. "Captain, it looks like we have visual." "Put it through," Ivanova said. An aging man in deep blue appeared on screen. "My God," Corwin breathed. Sinclair paused, but only for a moment. "On behalf of the Interstellar Alliance, Commander Adama, allow me to welcome you to Babylon 5. I am President Jeffrey Sinclair, this is the Minbari Ambassador, Delenn, and you already know the Earth Alliance rep-" {Pardon me,} Adama burst in, his face lighting up for a moment before becoming placid again, {did you say..._Earth_ Alliance?} "Yes," Sinclair said slowly, "I did. Captain Susan Ivanova runs Babylon 5 for the Earth Alliance, and as such is its representative in the Interstellar Alliance." {I see.} Adama smiled thinly. {Mr. President, we have been looking for you for a _very_ long time. I believe that we should meet in person as soon as possible.} Sinclair nodded slowly. "I believe that could be arranged, Commander. We're looking forward to it." {As am I. If you could excuse me for a moment, I need to contact my fleet.} "Of course," Sinclair said, and as the connection broke... "Sir," Corwin asked, "did you hear...cheering, just before they broke the link?" Sinclair nodded with a small smile. "Yes, David, I believe I did." The Battlestar Galactica. "YEE-HAH!" Starbuck shouted, and kissed Athena thoroughly. "We DID it!" "Now just hold on, Starbuck," Apollo said, waving the impulsive pilot down. "This could be another wild daggitt chase." "Aw, come _on,_ Apollo, this is the real thing! Even you've got to be able to feel this in your gut. I've been a gambler a long time, and I'm telling you, this has got 'full pyramid' written all over it!" Starbuck smiled. "What do you say you go find Serena, hand Boxey over to the Old Man, and we go celebrate!" Apollo chuckled. "Starbuck, I _am_ going to go find Serena. But that's where you and reality part ways. Commander Adama has plenty to worry about without a teenager to check on every micron, and while I do 'feel' that these people are really from Earth, I'm not going to start encouraging others until we have confirmation." Starbuck grinned at Apollo. "Spoilsport. Ah well. Athena, what do you say we do our _own_ celebrating?" Athena laughed. "Like Apollo said, Starbuck-you parted ways with reality a while ago." She kissed him back, then headed back toward the bridge. Starbuck grimaced. "So much for _that_ idea-and Cassie's on the Rising Star. Maybe Boomer wants a drink." Apollo grinned. "He probably does. He's on patrol." Even the son of Adama couldn't suppress a laugh at Starbuck's stricken expression. "Figures. The best thing to happen to this so-called fleet and no one's around to even drink with," Starbuck sighed. Then he smiled again. "Oh, Apollo-" "No." "Aw, come on, old buddy," Starbuck said, as he draped one arm over Apollo's shoulders. "What could happen _now?_" "Don't ask." Boomer flew side by side with a-Starfury? [Yea, that's what the locals called them. Nice ships-maneuverable as hell, even if they've got no speed. Bet they'd do well against Cylon Raiders, though.] Boomer frowned. [They'd better. Sooner or later, I guess they'll have to.] {Hey, Boomer to Starfury-aw, frac, what's your name again?} {James O'Conner, sir,} the Starfury pilot replied. {You guys really from another galaxy?} {That's right, James O'Conner,} Boomer replied. {You guys really fought a bunch of gods?} O'Conner laughed. {Nah, not gods. Next best thing, though-Allah and his Prophets!} Below them, on the planet, a light bright enough to be seen from orbit was growing along the surface. {That bad?} Boomer asked. {I hope not!} O'Conner replied. {Lt. O'Conner to C-in-C! We've got a situation out here...} TBC? =========================== Date: Thu, 2 Jul 1998 00:06:55 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Everybody off the Bus! Molly and Tink did a quick costume change before boarding the bus, three-dee energy grenade racquetball being likely frowned upon by Sil within her brand-new vehicle. Molly now looked out over the land between the CAoL and the castle, shouldering a brown leather teardrop-shaped shoulderbag. Dressed in tennis shoes, jeans, and a black Disaster Area t-shirt, the years she had been away became a bit more apparent, compared to the first time she wore similar garb. The years had been polite to her, if not kind, mostly adding the first hints at laugh lines and a certain grace in posture that naturally seems to come with it. Tink shrugs into a backpack designed to look like a stuffed tiger with straps and tugs at the hem of a white t-shirt with a yellow smiley on it. Molly notices a yellow shoelace on Tink's shoe is untied and bends over to tie it. Then he'll punch out the Jyhadein swinging it. If not, they stop about the way you'd expect a normal sword to stop when swung against the bow of a battleship. And then Nemo will take it away from the owner, crumple it into a ball and throw it away. *Then* he'll punch out the Jyhadein. :-) =========================== Date: Fri, 3 Jul 1998 21:41:10 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: A walk through the park. But of course, when you're a bit off kelter, your judgment tends to be just a bit worse than normal... "Most intensive is Bhairava (The Terrible Destroyer); I don't want to unleash something worse than Hydra here." Her form shudders a moment, and you can see the realization that she has no more time to think about this in her eyes. "Shiva carries a trishul (trident). I choose Trilochana, the three-eyed, because with your Lens, you are." Power flows, and suddenly there is a sound that isn't sound, or some dull explosion that doesn't really arrive as force. As the Lensdragon's white-furred tiger body had began to go upwards toward humanoid, with four arms (like the other Hindu gods around him), there was a momentary resistance and feedback of power to Ziactrice. The white tiger changes back to how it was before Zia tried this last change... Blue Pattern energy flares from her eyes, clenched fists, and finally, just plan skin. It no longer have a nicely ordered knot-like appeaarance about her, however. It writhes and billows like she is standing in some giant candle's flame. Or rather, make that kneeling, trying to regain her feet, unsteady as a five-day drunk. :"Wow," Tink says, looking at the Hindu 'pantheon' around her. "Does :this mean Ziatwice is Brahma?" Zia manages one look at Tink before losing what little remaining conscious control she had over the shadow manipulation. Then the "flame" around her shrinks down for a few seconds. Her forms shifts, first to male and a duplicate of how James himself appears, no less. Then (s)he grows another three to four feet taller, with an extra set of arms and the Lens ensconsed in an eye in the midst of his forehead. A wrapped Indian skirt and headress have replaced the black uniform of which no sign remains. His four arms holding up different objects, akshamala (rosary), kurcha (kusha grass), sruk (ladle), sruva (spoon), kamandala (water pot) and pustaka (book) and in different poses representing the four quartem. The rosary symbolizes time; the water pot, the waters of all creation. The implements kusha, sruk and sruva, denote the system of sacrifices used by creatures to sustain each other. The book represents religious and secular knowledge. Hand postures (mudras) are abhaya (protector) and varada (giver of boons). "According to Manu Smriti, the self-existant Lord Brahma manifested to dispel the darkness enveloping the universe." Brahma says, in a soft voice that is somehow heard and understood by ever living thing within a mile. He has four heads, which (in another paradox) don't seem to crowd each other. All four are bearded, and Lord Brahma's eyes are closed in meditation as he floats in lotus a good three feet off the ground. "Brahma, the infinite, the source of all space, time, causation, names and forms, and living creatures. I also created all knowledge, sciences, arts, music, dance, and drama. Shard, something seems to tell me today just isn't one of your luckiest. Your auspices read poorly. :"Hit us, Ziatrice." Molly's choker says, glowing in time with the :words. She picks up Tink, who adds, "Maybe save us fo' wast. We can :absowb as much ene'gy as you want wid of. We have use fo' the extwa." Lord Brahma nods, "It is as I intended it to be. Lord Krishna." He opens one set of eyes and looks at Driss. "Awaken, Lord Krishna. You who are known for your great divine power, awaken now for you are needed. I see you carry the flute with which the mortals often depict you playing, to symbolize the spread of the melody of love among the people. Remember now, your bravery in destroying evil powers throughout all your lives. You who are also Radha-Krishna, the link of love between a people and their gods. You must rememember and awaken for if any of us are to succeed, it will only be with such aid as you can provide. Listen and release your mortal form, awaken and remember your self." Without applying any extra power at all to Driss, as if he thinks Driss won't need help, Lord Brahma turns his eyes to Fuzzy. With a smile, he says, "The Great Ultimate, the Eight Triagrams. I have many names for you, but even I will not say them all. Awaken to what enlightenment you may; you must try for it is needful to restore this place to the Balance you are, and the Balance which must be." This time, only a gentle trickle of power, as Lord Brahma seems MUCH more controlled and in tune with the creational energies flowing through him as he traces an intricate symbol in the air in front of Fuzzy's eyes. It begins with a yin-yang in blue and dark blue in the center, then expands into an eight triangulated octagon of maze-like complexity. It seems simple on first glance, then quickly becomes so complicated when you look for detail that you cannot continue to view it. Even Lord Brahma traces it with all eyes once more shut, leaving only Fuzzy to view it. The creating god turns away to let Fuzzy deal with the symbol as he will, back to Molly. "Sarawasti, the wife of Lord Brahma and possesses the powers of speech, wisdom and learning. She has four hands representing four aspects of human personality in learning; mind, intellect, alertness and ego. She has sacred scriptures in one hand and a lotus (true knowledge) in the second." The god smiles as he delivers scroll and flower into Molly's hands, even as her form shifts under his power and he then hands her a violin and bow into the third and fourth. "With her other two hands she plays the music of love and life on the violin. You are dressed in white and rides on a white swan." He smiles on her, and somehow his blind regard shifts to Tink, eyes still closed. "Gauri, known for her purity and steadfastness. It is through the reciting of the mantra created by you that brings every kind of fortune at the physical, mental and intellectual level. Our lady of luck and acheived perfection through effort." =========================== Date: Mon, 6 Jul 1998 09:36:32 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Immortal Kombat On Mon, 6 Jul 1998 09:36:03 -0700 (MST) Driscoll Said As CAoL Message # 00004940 > On Sun, 05 Jul 1998 21:51:14 > Morgan and/or Roland Said As CAoL Message # 00004938 > > Jadis' citadel. > *%$&@FG&Q%*$&(!!!!!* Shard curses in Atlantean. Then the black kris swept back -- and fell. Behind the dark goddess, a phantom slowly faded into being. It was Mandy, but with a few important differences. Instead of the usual jeans and T ensemble, she was dressed in something gauzy. It fluttered in an unseen breeze, along with a few tendrils that had escaped from her braided headdress. And her bare feet were floating a few inches off the ground. An enterprising Jyhaden made for Mandy, but she turned to look at him with an oddly lonely look as his sword swept through her. "She said you can't touch me." her quiet voice was the last thing he heard before a taloned foot lashed out, opening his throat. =========================== Date: Mon, 6 Jul 1998 22:18:59 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Immortal Kombat On Tue, 07 Jul 1998 00:43:43 -0400 Dhyrclhanc Said As CAoL Message # 00004952 > On Mon, 06 July '98 Roland Said > > /"This,"/ Vishnu the Defender says, with a casual wave around > them. /"This...absurd act of ego. His only reply is, "I can imagine quite a lot." For those of you who might be having trouble following along with our home game, what Dhyrclhanc/Shiva has been doing so far is completly under his own steam. While I have no ideas what Sam's future plans for Dhyrclhanc may be, with Dhyrclhanc's current power base he's having no trouble inpersonating a god. Even when one considers that comparitivly his best efforts will only put him on par with a low- to mid-range Demi-God. Nothing to sneeze at though. =========================== Date: Tue, 7 Jul 1998 15:29:23 -0700 (PDT) Subject: AAE: RE: A walk through the park. Even Lord Brahma traces it with all eyes once more shut, > leaving only Fuzzy to view it. Fuzzy spends several minutes contemplating the symbol, "This world approches Cusp in all the cycles." An area large enough to contain Fuzzy's hand and wrist, about 10 inches in diameter Spherical, takes on the appearance of a Phantom Lens... A dozen or more crystal spheres about two inches in diameter each appear circling Fuzzy's head, as each appears the Symbol fades slightly. Until it is not perceptible... A glance into one of them will show a Blue Trigam overlaid with a Yellow Trigram, green at coincident points, from any angle... Another shows sets of three Runes (Red, Blue, and Yellow) Etc... Each is different in method but performs the same Function, Is it just co-incidence that you normally get one you can understand, By Default? Whichever you see relates to the course of action you are contemplating at the time. Those with the able to perceive such things will notice that near Fuzzy, About a 30 foot radius, Karma has taken over the functions of Causuality... =========================== Date: Tue, 7 Jul 1998 15:29:30 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Immortal Kombat On Tue, 7 Jul 1998 14:23:55 -0700 (PDT) Fuzzy Said As CAoL Message # 00004954 > On Mon, 06 Jul 1998 18:48:38 > Morgan and/or Roland Said As CAoL Message # 00004948 > > /"This,"/ Vishnu the Defender says, with a casual wave around > them. /"This...absurd act of ego.
