KNOWN NOVA ABILITIES: Enhanced intelligence, memory and visual learning processes; she is capable of sensing a person's emotional problems via images and draining the negative emotions away to enhance their own problem-solving abilities, using tactile contact to reinforce it. There is some evidence that she can temporarily enhance intelligence and learning processes, and dominate people's wills for short periods of time.

BIOGRAPHY: Regan McLachlan is a highly intelligent woman from Australia who once believed the worst about herself. Suffering through a violent relationship with her alcoholic husband and trapped in a menial job (for her) as an under-librarian, she had no self-esteem and little belief that life could get better. The only thing that kept her going was her passion for history, folklore and theology - she always took books from the library home to read and had written a few successful amateur articles for magazines.

She erupted after her husband beat her up so bad that she ended up in hospital. When she came to, she had a plaster cast on her broken leg and bandages around her broken ribs, but these were the least of her problems. The woman in the bed next to hers had been raped, and Regan picked up her despair and sense of worthlessness in images that haunted her nightmares. Finally realising what had happened, she attempted to comfort the poor woman by patting her shoulder - and inadvertantly removing the negative feelings and enhancing the victim's ability to heal the mental scars herself.

Regan was released from hospital shortly after and found that she couldn't forget what she'd picked up from the victim. She went to the Australian Rashoud facility and discovered that not only had she developed these powers, but her natural intelligence, memory and visual learning processes had increased dramatically. Counselling and help from the facility soon allowed Regan to divorce her abusive husband, then she joined Team Tomorrow as an auxiliary member of the Asia/Pacific team, earning the name "Heartsease."

She is incapable of field work by nature and lingering injuries from domestic violence, but she has often worked behind the scenes at peace conferences as an assistant to Geisha or other diplomats. However, due to her talents as a researcher (she has earnt a Doctorate in Comparative Mythology) and her nova abilities, she is also investigating Project Proteus via the counselling of victims and former flunkies.

Quiet, reserved and a strict pacifist, Regan is an open pagan who enjoys theological debates with people from any faith or belief system. She supports any program that helps victims of domestic violence, but otherwise keeps her life private.
